I hope to create pieces that bring you back to yourself, even if just for a moment. I believe our truest self is found in our original connection with nature, not our later learned responses shaped by culture. Living with art that honours the natural world fosters our reconnection and reminds us who we really are.

My art practice fuses two of my loves: exploring methods of making things, and studying the natural world. I’m happiest when my hands are busy solving the problems of how to get various materials to depict what I see and feel. That’s been the case since I was small, “helping” in my grandfather’s workshop.

I’ve spent large periods of my life working with animals, and that has allowed me to absorb their movements, expression, and communication.

I work primarily in oils, acrylics, and steel, but I’ve gone down many paths with different materials over the years. I love learning different techniques for making things, they are all wonderful to have when I’m facing new creative problems.

I’ve been showing in group and juried shows since 1997, winning 25 juror’s awards, including Best 3 Dimensional and People’s Choice at Sidney Fine Arts and the Island Blue Juror’s Choice Award at Sooke Fine Arts.

I live on Vancouver Island with my partner Kevin, our horse and cats.
